The target is to learn universal guide skills, do basic walking tours in Aarhus, and a few bus tours around Aarhus.

Before guiding in season 2027, complete a first aid course (or provide an existing diploma). One will be arranged in May (own expense).

Guide student card

You receive a personal guide student card for entrance to most Aarhus museums (and others around Denmark). When using it you are an ambassador for NGA — be kind and cooperative. Always bring the card on tours.

Facebook groups

You will be part of a network of guides and guide students. Relevant groups:

For guide gold and materials. Teachers upload materials and exercises. After an exercise or assignment, upload your scripts after your presentation. In the end you will have a useful collection of “guide gold”.

Practicalities

  • In the classroom you are offered coffee and water — bring a sandwich or snack for the long evenings. Baking for the class is welcome.
  • On the bus: remember sunglasses. The guide seat can be warm and blinding.
  • Dress for the weather and your comfort.

Photos

Many photos will be taken in class, on the bus, in museums, etc. Say if you do not want to be in them.

The group spirit

Many cultures, backgrounds and languages are in the group. Curiosity, politeness and generosity matter for guides — and in the classroom. The aim is a humorous, warm atmosphere where everybody can grow and contribute to the NGA spirit.
